A shrill blast from referee Mr Lewis' whistle and Duckpond got the 2018/19 Arthur Boswell Cup with a long ball forward, giving the Queens Arms keeper an early touch.
With five minutes gone a free kick on halfway gave Duckpond a chance to launch the ball into the danger area, Queens didn't clear convincingly and M.Hammond was able to put the bal back into the box. Knight rose highest but his glancing header flew wide.
Queens went forward, a deep free kick was met well beyond the far post but as the ball dropped to the waiting Palmer his volley flew, as the saying goes, high, wide and (not very) handsome!
Another Queens free kick was put into the Duckpond box, a good header cleared the danger and Eades sent it quickly forward looking to utilise the pace of his strikers but Saunders was first there to clear.
M.Hammond got possession on the left and did well to beat a couple of challenges before going over. Appeals came for a foul but these were waved away by the officials and Queens had a goal kick.
Duckpond picked up the loose ball in midfield and set Felgate away. A good run created space for the cross but a Queens boot got in the way at the expense of a corner kick. A Queens head was first to the ball in but the clearing header lacked power, Slater was under the ball as it dropped but he could only send it high over the crossbar.
Queens won a corner but the cross couldn't find a red head and was put out for a throw. Duckpond cleared the ball in but it was returned with interest, and some snow on it as it came back down, but M.Palmer did well as players closed in to make the catch.
Duckpond went forward, the move looked promising but a rush of blood and a very speculative shot sent the ball way off target as players either side hoped for a pass.
From the goal kick Queens Arms then took the lead. A possibility of handball in the middle of the pitch was ignored by the ref, Queens broke down the right, Perryman put the ball across and there was Parris Newland coming in unmarked at the far post to fire home and put Queens in front.

With Queens' supporters barely back in their seats, the game was back level as Duckpond equalised. A ball over the top gave Joe Knight something to chase and taking his shot early, he fired past Maddock to make it one goal apiece.
Queens Arms 1 - 1 Duckpond
A free kick for Queens Arms was cleared by Duckpond. They burst forward on the attack with players running ahead of the Slater, the ball carrier but alas the pass didn't come and the chance went begging.
The game was really starting to open up as it approached the half hour, with both sides looking to use the space in behind the opposition defence. B.Wales moved the ball wide to Perryman who hit a fierce drive from distance but again, there was the outstretched leg of Eades to make the block. A scramble in the Duckpond box from the resulting corner almost gave Queens the lead again, but Duckpond were able to smuggle the ball away from immediate danger and eventually hack it clear.
A quick break saw Duckpond's Felgate get away but Smart wasn't able to control the pass inside, K.Wales gave it to Pittaway but his cross was blocked behind for another Queens corner.
The ball in was aimed beyond the far post, a header back across looked promising but it was a Duckpond head that got there first to clear away. M.Hammond set off with it but was slowed up by a good tackle, L.Duly tried a long pass forward for the run of Slater but there was too much on it and the ball ran behind for another Queens goal kick.
B.Wales picked up a pass in midfield and set off for goal, a pass looked to put Palmer in but a good step from the back line caught the Queens' front man offside.
Duckpond created a couple of half chances for Knight but he was unable to trouble the keeper but in the thirty-seventh minute Duckpond won a corner kick. M.Hammond put the ball into the box, a posse of players from both sides could only send it up in the air, and a cheeky back header as the ball came back down from Sam Felgate caught everyone out to put Duckpond in front.

Unfortunately for Duckpond they weren't able to hang on to their lead for any length of time as Queens came right back. A super turn back inside his marker from Ben Perryman created space and he pinged a great shot beyond the static Palmer to bring the match back level.
Queens Arms 2 - 2 Duckpond.
Eadie, playing at left back for Duckpond came forward into midfield before slipping a pass through but Maddock was quickly out to clear the danger as Duckpond's strikers looked to pounce. Duckpond were awarded a free kick on halfway following a late tackle but the cross had too much on it and despite his best efforts Knight could only help it on it's way behind for a Queens Arms' goal kick.
The kick only just cleared the nearest Duckpond man but was flicked further into midfield by Newland. Billy Wales picked it up and carried it forward before scooping a deft pass over the top for the run of Jarrod Palmer who fired past Michael Palmer to put Queens back in front as the half time interval approached.

There was still time for both sides to have another crack at goal but neither Felgate for Duckpond or Palmer for Queens could change the scoreline and Mr Lewis blew for the break.

The second half got underway with both sides looking to get on the attack but it was Duckpond with the first great chance to get on the scoresheet. A fifty-fifty challenge outside the Queens box could have been given as a foul but play went on, the Duckpond player got inside the box, a foul and the Ducks had a penalty kick.
Knight was the man to take it, Maddock went the right way but didn't have to make a save as the shot flew well wide of the upright.
The first yellow card of the encounter wasn't long in following as Queens' Pittaway was brought crashing to the ground on halfway.
A free kick out on the right gave Queens a chance to get it into the box. Saunders took it, the ball in looked to have gone beyond everyone but at the last second dropped ominously towards the far top corner. M.Palmer did excellently going backwards to get up and just enough of a glove on it to get it onto the crossbar and team-mates were able to complete the clearance at the expense of a corner. Duckpond cleared the cross in but it came back and M.Palmer had to get up in the crowd to palm it away.
Duckpond looked to be under a little bit of pressure and Queens almost took advantage again, B.Wales picked up a loose pass and let fly but M.Palmer was pleased to see it fly beyond his far post.
A pass through from Newland looked almost perfect for his striking team-mate but Eades got back well to clear away for a Queens throw. Duckpond went forward, a rash challenge and they had themselves a free kick in shooting distance. M.Hammond curled his effort over the wall but Maddock was able to take it on the bounce.
Newland got the ball wide for Queens, a pass up the line ended with a clattering from Felgate who got a talking-to from Mr Lewis but no card. The free kick was curled into the box, appeals for a handball as Queens' Dan Baldwin fired home but the whistle had gone and Mr Lewis curtailed the celebrations to award Queens a penalty kick. B.Wales lined it up but could only match the earlier effort from Duckpond as he fired over the bar.
A Duckpond move down their right saw the ball put through but Maddock was quickly out to kick the ball away as Duckpond looked to capitalise on a great run. The corner came into the box where the referee Mr Lewis found himself on the end of what could only be described as a strong challenge and he went down. Play continued for a few seconds before players from both sides realised what had happened as both assistants went onto the field of play. A couple of minutes was enough for Mr Lewis to regain his feet and composure and he restarted play with a drop ball.
Duckpond came again, a pass wide looked for Knight but despite being on the end of the line of defenders he had strayed offside. A free kick gave them another chance to get the ball into the box, M.Hammond got up well to win the header but it bounced kindly for Maddock to make the catch.
A foul on Sullivan had him calling for a free kick but Duckpond had the advantage. Smart carried play forward, he fed B.Hammond who moved the ball on to Eades pushing forward but the Duckpond captain was offside and Queens took the chance to catch their breath.
B.Hammond was back in action soon after, heading goalwards from an Eades cross but the chance went wide.
The game was entering the final minutes and Eades was now playing right up front. A run took him into the attacking third but a good tackle from Duffus stopped him in his tracks. Duckpond regained possession but another flag - another runner going offside.
A long pass looked promising for Duckpond, Maddock came out to claim but it was taken off his toes by Baldwin covering across who put the ball out for a Duckpond throw right by the corner flag. In came the throw, a flick on, sent it to the edge of the six yard box and there was M.Hammond rising highest to nod down and past the despairing dive of Maddock. Duckpond celebrated but the assistant's flag was up and despite vigorous complaints from those in orange the decision stood and Queens were still in front.
With very little time left Queens were able to keep Duckpond at bay and Mr Lewis soon brought the 2018/19 Arthur Boswell Cup Final to an end.
