MOLER, following their odd goal in five victory over Boxted, now lead Division One. Blackthorn, the displaced leaders, following their 1-1 draw at Kelvedon must count the cost of missed penalties for both Bright and Wilkinson failed to net from the spot.
First half goals from R.Todd and Austin (penalty) gave Monkwick the points against Britannia. Live and Let Live struggling to avoid relegation recorded a creditable 2-1 victory over Eight Ash Green, Gary Greenleaf scoring both goals.
In Division Two Moler Res lost their 100 per cent record by losing 3-1 at home to lowly Benhams. British Rail narrowed the gap at the top with their 5-0 victory over Alresford whilst Woods continued their unbeaten run. Accounting for Gaslights by the odd goal in three the Works side must now be considered serious promotion candidates.
Rose and Crown went down yet again and to get back into the promotion chase, changes will have to be made. Against Sound Attenuators they established a goal lead on the half hour through Arnold but the longer the match continued the more disorganised they became and eventually an own goal by Cottee levelled the scores in the closing stages of the match. The Works team's persistence was rewarded when Parker netted the winner from close range.

In the Essex Sunday Junior Cup, the only Colchester side remaining is Boxted who beat Division One Labour Club 3-0 at Kelvedon. Blackthorn went down 3-0 to Clacton and Moler Reserves crashed 5-1 to Victoria Club at Harwich. It was a somewhat flattering scoreline however.
In Division One Moler seniors beat Britannia 3-2 in an incident packed game. With Moler leading 3-0 Trevor Smith and Richard Freeman were both sent off. This produced a fighting revival by the works side with two goals from Peter Gilsenan.
In Division Two NEETC shared four goals with British Rail and Rose and Crown had a 3-1 win over Nig Banda.
Alresford odd-goalled Gaslights with Purnell and Kent scoring. Greenleaf replied.
Paxman's appear to have sown up Division Three. They trailed to Marquis (Greygoose scored) but they came back through Lamont (D) and Tomkinson.
In the lower divisions there were some good scoring feats, S.Malone (Coggeshall CYC) led the way with five. Four goal men were P.Greenleaf (Home Farm) and P.Davis (Nig Banda) and M.Bethall (Turner Village).
Hat-trick men were G.Hardie (Bugle Horn) and D.Fisher and B.Wilkinson (Mysons).

Live and Let Live scored a welcome 4-1 over Monkwick with Gary Greenleaf (2) and Minter (2) the scorers.
In Division Two, Rose and Crown beat British Rail 3-2 but had to struggle after leaving 3-0. Rail's goals came from Townrow and Stacey. Moler Reserves lead the table and were in convincing mood against Gaslights, Inver (2), Hughes and Fineham were the marksmen. A goal by Fennell gave Alresford the points against NEETC.
Top individual scorer of the day was Lloyd Pettican who got four of Layer Fox's seven goals against Turner Village.

MONKWICK eased the threat of relegation with a resounding win over Boxted. Dunn (2), Manning, Todd and Mullington scored their goals. Willsher and Graves replied.
Live and Let Live continued their unbeaten run with a 1-1 draw against Labour Club and QB went down 6-4 to Britannia in the highest scoring game of the day.
In Division Two Woods' promotion hopes were dented when Nig Banda beat then with goals from Farrow (2) and Warren. Keeble got Woods' goal. Moler Res still lead the way in Division Two with British Rail and Rose and Crown close up. At the foot of the table NEETC had a fine 7-2 win over Gaslights, Keith Seaman was the hero with five and the others came from Costa.
In Division Three Paxmans are still the leaders. Birch had a fine 6-1 victory at the expense of White Hart but it was a win marred by the sending off of Wright 15 minutes from the end for deliberate hands. He had earlier been booked.
Elmstead and Bugle Horn lead the way in Division Four and ace marksman Graham Hardy, of Bugle Horn collected four more to his mounting tally.
In Division Five a surprise but welcome point for Turner Village with a 3-3 draw against Nig Banda Res. Chatters (2) and Bethel were the Village scorers. Layer Fox scored an impressive win over Birchwood with Oliver (3), Pettican and Austin on target.
In Division Six Globe, 3-2 down to Boxted Res are the only side in the league without a victory. A hat-trick for Vagabonds John Kelly in the 4-0 defeat of Labour Club Res.

RANGERS were under pressure in the first half and took the lead when a Betts defender headed into his own net.
Rangers came into their own later and H.Knights scored. Then a fine run by R.Weldon saw him make it three.
Betts cut the lead but a shot from P.Goding was deflected into the net to make it 4-1. Betts replied again before Goding rounded off the scoring.
