Dennis pounces.Eight Ash Green 1 - 2 BerechurchA late goal by attack leader Dennis Free capped a second half revival by Berechurch and enabled them to carry off the Sunday League Cup at Braiswick.
It was a desperately close issue between two well-matched sides with the deciding factor probably the Green's lack of punch. At times the Green played the better football but all they had to show for it was a first half goal from
C.Hammond who struck home a fierce angled shot from 25 yards.
John Damant levelled in the second period with a free kick shot which hit the underside of the bar and bounced down over the line, referee Ivor Ponder being in the ideal spot to signal a goal.
The winner was something of a curio,
Free fell in the six yard area when attempting to hit home a cross first time but the ball jammed between his legs and he forced it over the line before Steel could recover.
